2 US fests host Iran doc

Iranian documentary ‘The Rock’ has been scheduled to go on the silver screen at the 26th edition of Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival and the 28th edition of New Orleans Film Festival in the US, October 2017.

Directed by Hamid Jafari, the 25-minute documentary narrates the story of a woman who lives near the South Western city of Ramhormoz.

Every day, she goes to the mountain with a sledgehammer and a crowbar in hand to smash and break the rocks so that she can sell them to provide for her family.

The Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival is one of the oldest documentary film festivals in the world, held annually in Hot Springs, Arkansas. The festival began in 1992, with a screening of ten Academy Award nominated documentaries. The festival screens 100 documentaries each year and is recognized by the International Documentary Association and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as one of seven national Academy Award qualifying venues.

The 26th edition of the event will take place on 6-15 October, 2017.

The New Orleans Film Festival is an annual film festival organized by the nonprofit organization New Orleans Film Society, a film society founded in 1989. The festival has been held since the society's inception.

The 28th edition of the festival will be held on 11-19 October, 2017.
